Crispy Japanese Katsu Bowls are a delicious and satisfying dish featuring breaded and fried meat served over rice with a flavorful sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb pork loin or chicken breast
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1/4 cup tonkatsu sauce
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the meat by flattening it to an even thickness and seasoning with salt and pepper.
  2. Set up a breading station with flour, beaten eggs, and panko breadcrumbs.
  3. Dredge the meat in flour, dip in eggs, and coat with panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the breaded meat until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Remove from oil and let drain on paper towels.
  6. Slice the cooked meat and serve over a bed of rice.
  7. Drizzle with tonkatsu sauce and garnish with chopped green onions.
