Ingredients

  • 6 to 8 medium apples, peeled and sliced
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 package of pie crusts (2 crusts)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss to coat the apples evenly.
  3. Roll out one pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie pan.
  4. Fill the crust with the apple mixture and dot with butter.
  5. Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the filling. Seal and flute the edges, then cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes, or until the apples are soft and the crust is golden brown.
  7. Let the pie cool before serving.

  • For a sweeter pie, adjust the sugar according to the sweetness of the apples.
