Description

Grilled Asian Tuna Steak with sesame and ginger marinade.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tuna steaks
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds, divided
  • Sliced green onion (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (about 350°F).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, sesame oil, ginger, soy sauce, garlic powder, rice vinegar, and half of the sesame seeds.
  3. Pour half of the marinade over the tuna steaks and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes. Reserve the remaining marinade.
  4. Remove tuna from the marinade and discard the used marinade.
  5. Press 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds onto the tuna to form a crust.
  6. Grill tuna for 2–3 minutes per side, brushing lightly with the reserved sauce while cooking.
  7. Cook to an internal temperature of 135°F for medium-rare or 145°F for well done.
  8. Remove from grill, drizzle with remaining sauce, garnish with green onions and extra sesame seeds, and serve.

Notes

  • A short 20-minute marinade adds good flavor, but longer marinating deepens the taste.
  • Best served with rice, vegetables, or a fresh salad.
