Description
Grilled Asian Tuna Steak with sesame and ginger marinade.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 tuna steaks
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds, divided
- Sliced green onion (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (about 350°F).
- In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, sesame oil, ginger, soy sauce, garlic powder, rice vinegar, and half of the sesame seeds.
- Pour half of the marinade over the tuna steaks and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes. Reserve the remaining marinade.
- Remove tuna from the marinade and discard the used marinade.
- Press 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds onto the tuna to form a crust.
- Grill tuna for 2–3 minutes per side, brushing lightly with the reserved sauce while cooking.
- Cook to an internal temperature of 135°F for medium-rare or 145°F for well done.
- Remove from grill, drizzle with remaining sauce, garnish with green onions and extra sesame seeds, and serve.
Notes
- A short 20-minute marinade adds good flavor, but longer marinating deepens the taste.
- Best served with rice, vegetables, or a fresh salad.
