Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, mix the melted butter, buttermilk, egg, vanilla extract, and maple syrup.
  4. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until just mixed.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. While the bars are baking, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and maple syrup in a bowl.
  8. Once the bars are done, let them cool for a few minutes before drizzling the glaze on top.
  9. Cut into bars and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • For a richer flavor, add more maple syrup to the glaze.
